This article needs to be made much more relevant to the metal gear universe. I would suggest merging over the Delta Force, Green Beret and Force XXI sections as the US army was a parent organisation to all of these. adding it to the group Category wouldn't hurt either. --Drawde83 21:22, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Honestly, I think this entire article is pointless. It looks more like some pseudo-historical Metal Gear fanfiction. All it needs is descriptions of the characters involvement in the military. AntonImaus 10:01, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
  • You'd have to label any article that deals with a real life organization in Metal Gear as pseudo-historical fanfiction. I'm just giving the history as it was in Metal Gear, since it is very similar to the history of it anyways. Besides, you should have seen what the original article was like, where it was quite literally nothing more than a few lines as seen here:
  • "The U.S. Army is, as the name states, the Army of the United States of America. The U.S. Army acts as its formal self in the game series, nothing more. All involvements of the U.S. Army in the game series are fictitious. "
  • The last few lines were completely unnecessary, anyways, so I blocked them out, and I did my best to expand it. Weedle McHairybug 12:41, November 29, 2010 (UTC)

I kinda of agree with Anton that information about the real life US Army is redundant and unnecessary. I think there should be a rule that any mention of the US army must either be from a) the MGS Database b) any of the media, games and novels, themselves. If people needed information about the real US Army, we could just send them to Wikipedia. This is just for the sake of compactness and relevance. I mean, we're not going to write an article about the October Revolution just because the Soviet Union were an integral part of the plot are we?

Okay, better examples:

  • The Sons of Liberty, relevant. Because they were mentioned by Solidus, if briefly.
  • The American Civil War, irrelevant. The games may have referenced Abraham Lincoln but that doesn't mean the American Civil War had much to do with the series.
