Metal Gear Rising[]
MGR is under the canon category here even though it has been confirmed that it is not. Someone should change that.
I agree, Kojima noted that "We've only said that the period setting is several years after MGS4. Metal Gear Rising is not part of the Metal Gear Solid series.", on Twitter. I think Metal Gear Rising's icon most be removed from canon section on the homepage of the wiki, too. Somebody must place it in the non-canon section. --Hoe Hunter 22:44, December 23, 2011 (UTC)
Exactly. Kojima said Rising is not a part of the Metal Gear Solid series. That's why it's called MGR not MGSR. He never confirmed whether it's canon or not. Learn to read, people. Just wait for Kojima to say something which really makes Rising's status perfectly clear. YouNoobxD94 13:53, December 24, 2011 (UTC)YouNoobxD94
I think Rising's stance in canon is similar to that of Portable Ops: It is part of the canon, but they are not a main chapter. I'd even suggest to create a new category in this article for these special cases; especially since it is likely that more of these spin-offs might follow, which are part of the canon, but not of the main series. Further, I'd even seperate the original two games from the later solid series, because they are also somewhat seperated in many official documents these days. This would leave sections: Original Series (MG1 & MG2), Main or Solid Series (MGS, MGS2, MGS3, MGS3, MGS4, MGSPW, MGSGZ&MGSV), Canonical Spin-offs (MPO, MGR) and non canonical spin offs. 87.177.67.188 15:54, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
- In this very article it states the criteria of games labeled non-canon are labeled as such due to either "no direct statement that they are canon" or "little to no involvement with Kojima." Which Metal Gear Rising meets that criteria yet people keep declaring it a canonical title. And Peace Walker, although a very, very good game, is still a canonical spinoff nonetheless since it is not a numbered installment (IE, see how the title of "MGS5" skipped over Peace Walker and went straight to Ground Zeroes/The Phantom Pain, which are both labeled as the fifth main installment of MGS. Meaning it is a canonical spinoff rather than a main installment. It's the same as Portable Ops). Long story short: Risings dubious status of canonicty as well as Peace Walker's inclusion as a main title rather than a spinoff.Reggiefive0 (talk) 22:20, March 26, 2014 (UTC)
