ICBMG and RAXA split[]
They're different weapons. The ICBMG (which is what Sokolov and Campbell refers to the Shuttlepod, and used on the official soundtrack) is not the same thing as RAXA. I think its confusing to talk about both in the same article. Arkhound 18:25, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- They're not. RAXA is a test model of the actual Metal Gear. The "ICBMG" is just a launching device for the Metal Gear, which detaches itself and lands before launching actual nukes. They're on the same page for that reason. --Fantomas 18:28, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
I'll let Campbell decide this.
"Campbell: From what this guy "Ghost" has been saying, the weapon we're chasing is a Metal Gear with intercontinental ballistic-launch capabilities. An ICBMG, if you will. And we have reports that the nuclear warheads were transported out of the storage facility and brought to the ballistic missile launch silo. We can't confirm whether any of this info is reliable, but the way I see it, we have to operate on the assumption that Metal Gear has already been moved to the launch silo."
"Campbell: So the Metal Gear you destroyed at the plant... It wasn't the intercontinental ballistic unit we've been after. It was a performance test model, RAXA. Gene managed to sneak the real ICBMG right out from under our noses and move it to the nuclear launch silo. And judging from the way he was talking, they've already finished arming it with the nukes. We can't afford anymore setbacks. Concentrate the Spy Unit on the Silo Entrance. Keep your eyes open for any information! We've got to infiltrate the underground silo complex... "
Campbell refers to the Metal Gear with ICBM-launching capabilities as the ICBMG, while the test model is just RAXA. Even if RAXA is just a test version of ICBMG, ICBMG is the Metal Gear itself, not the name of the launching device. Arkhound 18:40, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
In the case the article gets merged again, I think the article's name should be ICBMG, since RAXA is just the experimental mode. Arkhound 19:06, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Ahh, well that's evidence I can't dispute. Fair enough, I admit defeat. You may continue --Fantomas 19:12, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Canon[]
How is this listed as a non-canon Metal Gear while the ICBMG, from the same game, of which RAXA is specifically identified to be a prototype of, IS canon? 166.137.252.125 02:56, September 21, 2015 (UTC)
Hello?
Its a mistake. Neither is canon. 95.141.28.121 02:20, September 23, 2015 (UTC)

Name[]
Is there any information on where the name RAXA came from, whether in-universe or behind the scenes? I'm just curious as to whether no one thought to mention it or if it's just completely unknown. Tsunoba (talk) 09:34, May 12, 2018 (UTC)
- I remember trying to find the answer to that myself years ago and could only find the Japanese word of Portuguese origin raxa (pronounced rah-sha), which means "felt" (the type of cloth)[1]. I had another quick look now and found a genus of bugs with the same name[2], and while this multi-legged flying Metal Gear does appear vaguely bug-like, the game's pronunciation casts doubt on this usage.
