A truck driver for the Red Army was stationed at Da Wialo Kallai around the time Venom Snake (who at the time had just recently entered Afghanistan to rescue Kazuhira Miller) had entered the village to find the location for Miller. He ended up ambushed by Snake while the latter was searching for intel on Miller's whereabouts.

The truck driver is a minor character in Mission 1: Phantom Limbs. Extracting him before he departs from the village completes the related mission task, although he cannot be recruited on the first playthrough of the mission (as it requires the fulton extraction device and/or the ability to call in Pequod for direct extractions, both of which are unavailable until after Miller is rescued and the player completes the following mission, Diamond Dogs).
