While flying to Shadow Moses Island during the events of Liquid Ocelot's Insurrection, Solid Snake dreamed about his first infiltration of the island's nuclear-weapons disposal-facility. In the dream, Snake snuck through the heliport, avoiding the security cameras and sentries, and then entered the tank hangar via an air duct. Shortly after entering the duct, Snake woke up; gasping. After Otacon enquired about his agitated state, Snake then told him that he had "had that dream again."
Behind the scenes[]
The Shadow Moses dream sequence, featured in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is a PlayStation emulation of the heliport area from Metal Gear Solid. If the player kills anyone or is killed in the dream, it will not count towards their ranking at the end of the game. Additionally, if the player enters the duct during the Alert status, a gunshot will be heard when Snake wakes up.
Upon completion, Snake receives the MGS1 FaceCamo that replicates his appearance from Metal Gear Solid, rendered in the original PlayStation graphics. The description states "A camouflage skullcap that uses the same technology as the OctoCamo. Shaped to resemble a polygon model of Solid Snake from MGS1." The dream sequence occurs just before the start of Act 4, Twin Suns.
