The revival pill was a counteracting agent to the fake death pill, which was used to bring the user back from a state of "false death."

Function[]

Taking the revival pill caused the user's body to secrete stimulants, like noradrenaline and other chemicals such as naloxone, which block the effects of the fake death pill.[1] It was implanted within a hollowed-out molar tooth and had to be used within a certain amount of time to prevent actual death.

Use by the CIA[]

Both the revival pill and fake death pill were developed by the CIA, circa the early 1960s, for its agents in the field. FOX operative Naked Snake was provided with the revival pill during the Virtuous Mission and Operation Snake Eater of 1964. Snake would use the pill to revive himself from near-death, during his encounter with The Sorrow.

If near-death, use this item to return to game.

―Revival Pill description from Metal Gear Survive beta.

The revival pill is slated to return in Metal Gear Survive, although with a slightly different purpose: Specifically, it actually revives the player and prevents them from getting a game over if defeated by the Wanderers instead of simply nullifying the effects of a fake death pill. It first appeared in the Beta for the game, and aside from three being issued to the player upon first registering, it also acted as the daily login bonuses for the beta, one pill for each day. It weighed 0.01 KG in Survive
