The research lab was the location where Naomi Hunter was ostensibly being held against her will by Liquid Ocelot and the Pieuvre Armement PMC. It contained various medical equipment.

Solid Snake managed to arrive here, and learned the reason for his accelerated aging, as well as the fact that FOXDIE had mutated and was slowly turning him into a bioweapon, and that he had also been injected with a new strain of the virus. Snake also learned more about Liquid Ocelot's plans as well as the SOP system. However, Naomi Hunter was eventually evacuated by Pieuvre Armement, due to the situation becoming too dangerous for her to remain, while Snake was forced to take out some Haven Troopers and Laughing Octopus.
Behind the scenes[]
Research Lab is a location that appears in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots during Act 2, Solid Sun.
Photos of Dolly the sheep, the first mammal cloned from an adult somatic cell, can be seen within the lab. The method of her cloning is the same as that used in the fictional "Les Enfants Terribles" project that created Big Boss's clones.
