The parents of Psycho Mantis were a couple who lived in a village during the 1970s.
The mother died during childbirth, causing the father to resent his son. The young Mantis discovered this when first using his psychic powers to read his father's mind, and feared that he planned to murder him.
This revelation caused Mantis to burn his village down, killing all of its residents, including his father.
