Satoshi Itō (伊藤 聡 Itō Satoshi?), better known by his pen name Project Itoh (伊藤 計劃 Itō Keikaku?, October 14, 1974 - March 20, 2009), was a Japanese science fiction author and illustrator who wrote the novelization of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Prior to his professional work, Itoh was a fan artist best known for his Metal Gear-based dōjinshi and fan fiction, published on his now-defunct website Spooktales. His works caught the attention of Hideo Kojima himself and Itoh became a contributing writer in several Kojima-related literature. Itoh passed away at the age of 34 on March 20, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. The ending of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was dedicated to him.

Kojima also planned to have Itoh write novelizations of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Peace Walker, but Itoh's death led to other writers taking on those tasks, specifically Satoshi Hasegawa and Hitori Nojima, respectively. He was, however, outlived by his website, which also played some role in S-F Magazine's August 2015 edition covering Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.[1]
