The Ninja Run was a special move used by Raiden during the World Marshal Incidents. It allowed him to quickly move over obstacles, using the improved mobility of his cyborg body.

History[]

Since his rebuilding as a cyborg prior to the Guns of the Patriots Incident, Raiden's high-performance body had always been capable of feats of superhuman strength and agility. During his failed attempt to protect N'mani, Raiden proved capable of running at superhuman speed, easily able to keep pace with a speeding train on foot, and even being capable of running down a building or up a vertical area if necessary. It seemed that his rebuild did not affect his agility either positively or negatively, as his movement abilities did not alter following it.

Behind the scenes[]

The Ninja Run is a special move that Raiden can use in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Mechanics[]

The Ninja Run is triggered by pressing the left analog stick / movement key (W / A / S / D) in any direction and holding R1 / RB / Shift. When in use Raiden runs faster and automatically jumps over or slides under obstacles. His cyborg body leaves a trail of electricity as he moves. Pressing Square / X / Left Mouse Button during a Ninja Run will perform a running slash, while pressing Triangle / Y / Right Mouse Button will perform a sliding kick. Running slashes are extremely useful for dealing with Dwarf Gekko without standing still and becoming vulnerable to their grapple attack.

In addition, the Ninja Run allows Raiden to deflect bullet-based attacks with his sword, much as he could with the original HF Blade at the end of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. This does not work on projectile attacks such as rockets and missiles, which must instead be cut with Blade Mode.

Unlike regular running, the Ninja Run does not count as silent and using it to approach an unaware enemy will alert them.

The Ninja Run is occasionally used for QTE sequences, including those against Hammerheads and during the fights against Metal Gear RAY and Monsoon.
