Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Original Soundtrack, is a soundtrack released by Konami and Japanese music label, Phantom (Japan), on November 29, 2001 under the catalog number KMCA-127. Two soundtracks were released for Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The first simply titled Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Original Soundtrack contains 17 tracks from the game, with the majority coming from the Tanker chapter, leaving many pieces from the Plant chapter absent. However, Konami decided to release a second soundtrack collection entitled Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty Soundtrack 2: The Other Side which contains 20 tracks almost entirely from the Plant chapter.
There are 3 versions of this soundtrack. The original Japanese version, a European version and a North American version with different cover arts. The European version was released on November 29, 2001 under the catalog number KOE-CDS-137 and the North American version was released on November 4, 2003 under the catalog number KCD-226.
The "Main Theme Motif" appears once during this soundtrack, during "Metal Gear Solid Main Theme (Track 1)."
