"Hmm, I don't remember that one. It mustn't be that important." This article is about a subject from outside Hideo Kojima's core "Metal Gear Saga." Its canonicity within the continuity is disputed, therefore reader discretion is advised.[?] |
Kevin Washington was a member of Raiden's support team within the PMC Maverick Security Consulting, Inc. He formerly worked in DDR (Disarmament, Demobilization, Reintegration) at an NGO with ties to the United Nations. However, after meeting Boris and learning of his kind nature first hand, he decided to join Maverick. He also partly joined because he witnessed first hand how the UN does not effectively do its job at ensuring DDR. His jobs in Maverick included briefing preparations, arms procurement, client negotiation, Human Resource management (HR), business development, accounting, and, during the events of Abkhazia, sales, on-site coordination, and advisor work.
He also went to the same university as Courtney Collins, and had her join Maverick as a recommendation. His work was cut down somewhat due to Courtney joining, to whom he also mentioned the Patriots to her, and she initially thought he was trying to do a BS test as part of orientation into the group. He treats Raiden like a younger brother, despite the fact that Raiden is actually older than Kevin.

Some time after the disastrous African mission, Kevin acted as part of Raiden's mission support group, supplying information on the events in Abkhazia. However, he also nearly significantly delayed Raiden's deployment when telling Raiden to watch out for Samuel Rodrigues, as well as ruined the briefing when he said something that unintentionally reminded them of Sam taking Raiden's eye. In addition, he frequently placed Courtney's coffee cup at another location, due to Courtney frequently placing the cup close to the edge. At some point, Kevin learned from Courtney about Raiden's nickname of "Mr. Lightning Bolt" by N'mani, and often gave him a hard time with it.
He was knowledgeable in geography, culture, and socio-political conditions. He also sported tattoos on his right arm.
When Raiden headed to downtown Denver for a corporate raid at World Marshal, Kevin initially was very angered at him deciding to do it, although he relented when Raiden pointed out there were no alternative methods to saving the children at World Marshal. After Raiden fully unleashed his Jack the Ripper persona on Monsoon, Kevin was briefly disturbed by Raiden's behavior.
Behind the scenes[]
Kevin Washington (ケビン・ワシントン Kebin Washinton?) was voiced by Phil LaMarr (his last name is misspelled as "LaMar" in the end credits). Previously, LaMarr provided the voice of Vamp in the series. Coincidentally, Kevin briefly does a vampire hiss in a similar manner to Vamp in response to Raiden's comment about Desperado's cyborgs being "walking vending machines."
