Julie Danziger was the mother of Emma Emmerich-Danziger. She was originally from England.[1][2] Her marriage to Emma's father ended during her daughter's childhood.[3] Danziger eventually remarried, becoming the wife of American scientist Huey Emmerich and stepmother to his son Hal.[3] She would later have an affair with Hal[4], even though he was legally a minor, the discovery of which resulted in Huey committing suicide by drowning himself in their home swimming pool, nearly killing six-year-old Emma in the process.[5]

After Huey's death, Danziger moved back to England and raised Emma there, later becoming married to a businessman named Robinson.[1] She remained in contact with Hal by letter, through which she informed him of Emma's acquired aquaphobia from the family pool incident.[1][5]
