Johnson was a high-ranking employee at the Colorado-based PMC World Marshal Inc. He held a fascination with Japanese horticulture.

At some point, he and his team arranged to have the reception area of the upper area of the World Marshal HQ building renovated to resemble a Japanese garden, which included cherry blossoms. The Colorado Senator and World Marshal CEO Steven Armstrong saw the renovation's results with Monsoon, and expressed disgust with it, especially with the cherry blossom additions, with his telling Monsoon that when he found Johnson, he'd fire him, and also implied that he may do even worse to him than just fire him.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Johnson was an avid fan of Japanese horticulture, which resulted in his renovating the entire reception area to resemble a Japanese garden. However, he was also allegedly cowardly or weak, as Armstrong, when angrily stating that he'd fire Johnson when he found him, referred to him as a "candy-ass."

Behind the scenes[]

Johnson is first mentioned by Doktor when Raiden successfully arrives at the upper area of the World Marshal HQ building, when explaining why the route Raiden has to take resembles a Japanese garden, although he is never named. He is later identified by name in the Jetstream DLC's opening cutscene. In addition, although Armstrong says he will fire Johnson at a bare minimum, Doktor refers to Johnson's job in the present tense two years later, possibly suggesting Armstrong didn't carry out his threat.[2]

Monsoon: I take it you [Steven Armstrong] aren't a fan [of cherry blossoms]? // Steven Armstrong: No. (angrily brushes off a petal) They make me sick. I knew Johnson's team was working on some fancypants new reception area... (walks over to a pond and looks down on it) But Jesus... When I get my hands on that candy-ass... (stands up angrily and turns to Monsoon) He'll be lucky if he can even carry his box of shit out of the building.

Doktor: You should find an indoor garden up ahead. // Raiden: A garden? Sounds fancy. // Doktor: A Japanese garden, to be precise. It is an area set aside for VIPs. Apparently one of World Marshal's directors is a rather serious Japanese culture enthusiast.
