Metal Gear Solid Original Video Game Soundtrack is a vinyl format soundtrack re-released by record company Mondo with the licensing and permission of Konami.
The soundtrack was released on July 17, 2019 in black, and limited edition “green smoke” 180g vinyls. A limited edition “Grey Fox” color edition was released at San Diego Comic-Con on July 18, 2019 the following day. The soundtrack was repressed and re-released three times. First in 2019 in limited edition 180g “green splatter” vinyl exclusive to Fangamer.com. Second in September 2023 on 180g eco recycled vinyl and again in October 2023 in limited edition 180g “red splatter” vinyl exclusive to Konami’s official store. All versions of the soundtrack were released under the catalog number MONO 183.
The soundtrack is a direct re-release of the Metal Gear Solid Original Game Soundtrack with the same track listing and track lengths and featuring artwork by Randy Ortiz as its cover. All versions will be bundled with an art lithograph featuring Grey Fox’s cyborg helmet. The Comic-Con edition, released at Mondo’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 features the lithograph art as the sleeve cover and the standard edition's cover as the art lithograph. The Comic-Con edition is limited to 1000 units and sold at the price of $35. Rika Muranaka who composed the game’s ending theme “The Best is Yet to Come", was in attendance and signed copies of the soundtrack on Day 1 of the event. The gatefold sleeve artwork depicts a wolf, praying mantis, octopus tentacles, a raven, and an ocelot, indirectly referring to the five members of FOXHOUND commanded by Liquid Snake.
Just like the original, the soundtrack is composed and performed by the KCE Japan Sound Team, TAPPY and Kazuki Muraoka. The ending theme was composed by Rika Muranaka.
