Cunning Yuji was a former member of the Militaires Sans Frontières' Combat Unit. They alongside Bastard Yota had gone AWOL by the time of the Ground Zeroes Incident.
Behind the scenes[]
Cunning Yuji is mentioned in the opening scene of Metal Gear Survive on the MSF's casualty list as Goodluck is inspecting the Captain's body. The name is a reference to the game's producer and former Kojima Productions head, Yuji Korekado.
