Cigarette Narcosis Gun.
The cigarette gas-spray gun is a narcosis gun that emits sleeping gas from a small tube shaped like a cigarette. This espionage weapon was believed to be under development in the 1960s for use by KGB spies.
A supposed test model of the cigarette gun was recovered by Naked Snake during Operation Snake Eater, in Graniny Gorki, Tselinoyarsk. The weapons had a firing range of three meters and were stored within a 1940s-era cigarette case. After Snake was captured by Colonel Volgin and tortured, these cigarettes were confiscated along with his other items. However, the prison guard Johnny managed to pocket the cigarettes and hand them back to Snake, after Snake returned some of his meals for the guard to eat, although he was completely unaware of the devices' true purpose.

The cig gas-spray can be used in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater to take down enemies quickly and quietly. The cig gas-spray and the knock-out handkerchief share a distinct advantage over other weapons in that they can be used while Snake is disguised, allowing him to inconspicuously neutralize enemies, though they are only effective at very close range. When out of disguise, Snake can also use the cig gas-spray with the CQC knife to perform close combat maneuvers, but cannot use it while holding an enemy as a human shield. Unlike the handkerchief, Snake can use the weapon without the risk of becoming intoxicated by the fumes himself.
Both the cig gas-spray and knock-out handkerchief can be found in Graniny Gorki Lab B1 West. Later in the game, it can become extremely useful in escaping from the Groznyj Grad prison cell, if Snake manages to befriend the guard, Johnny.
A weapon like the cigarette gas-spray gun is not known to exist, or be in use by any military or law enforcement agency. It was likely inspired by a similar weapon used by a KGB spy in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me. However, the Metal Gear Solid 4 Database claims that it was used by the CIA during the 1950s.[1]
