Product placement is a form of advertisement where a particular product appears on a movie, TV show, or some other medium with the specific intent of promoting it to the audiences. Product placement has been used in the Metal Gear series with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops/Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and, more famously, the Japanese version and to a lesser extent English versions of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. In some cases, they act as promotional DLC.
