Bastard Yota was a former member of the Militaires Sans Frontières' Combat Unit. They alongside Cunning Yuji had gone AWOL by the time of the Ground Zeroes Incident.

Bastard Yota is mentioned in the opening scene of Metal Gear Survive on the MSF's casualty list as Goodluck is inspecting the Captain's body. The name is a reference to the game's director and planning person, Yota Tsutsumizaki.
