Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain... the first 'open world' Metal Gear game. It has it all; parasites, skimpy outfits, an Emmerich wetting their pants, a giant mech, not one, not two, but THREE Snakes, balloons, Russians, and more. A near perfect (though unfinished) game.

Except for the driving. An 8x8 with four wheel steering shouldn't turn like a boat, tanks aren't supposed to be either lowriders or 'two wheel' stunt machines, jeeps aren't supposed to flip over (well, the real world Willy's Jeep had that issue), trucks shouldn't be so vulnerable to bullets, and don't get me started on the near impossible technological and mechanical requirements for a miniaturised bipedal support vehicle in the mid eighties. At best, they'd be horribly unreliable and expensive to develop and maintain. The controls in Ground Zeroes was much better. In fact, being somewhat reminiscent of GTA IV. Surely a jeep can go faster, and an APC should be able to take something better than a three point turn.

I love the game. It is in my top five favourite games of all time. It's just the DAMN BOATMOBILES THEY CALL APCS! KOJIMA! COME BACK! PLEASE! YOU NEED TO FIX THIS- THIS THING!

I asked a friend of mine to check out his facial expressions, and even though it looks "blank" or simple, as V is sitting in his chopper, I got the same answer I was thinking, looks sad.

Just listened to the “secret recording with skull face” cassette tapes between Skull Face and Code Talker, particularly the second one.

Skull Face seeks a way to control or halt the onset of symptoms of the Vocal Chord Parasites (as in all of the parasites, regardless of their intended lingual target). And in order to bargain with Code Talker, he presents a bell, and tells him that he has an extremely loyal soldier stationed outside who will give one simple order whenever he hears it chime, that order being “Go”, which will cause his operatives to implant vocal chord parasites into one of the Diné people, for each bell chime, whom he has captured in a storage room, of various ages and genders.

Initially this doesn’t seem to be much of a threat, as the Navajo language is immune to parasites. However Skull Face reveals they aren’t to be injected with a Navajo strain, he plans to use the English strain. Despite this, Code Talker resists in giving him an answer to halting the symptoms, claiming it’s impossible to control (which is true). At which Skull Face chimes the bell once.

Eventually, Code Talker is able to deduce that Skull Face does not need the key to symptom prevention for any tactical reason, he needs it because in stealing Code Talkers parasites, experimenting with them on his own, and testing them, he has unknowingly been infected with each and every strain he has unleashed, except english.

Threatening the bell again, Code Talker admits radiation, is a potential cure, similar to sterilization. The levels of radiation, and how much at a time, he does not know. At which point, Skull Face thanks him, turns to leave, and exclaims his utmost trust in Code Talker, because they are/were both fueled by revenge. At which point he offers code talker a gift, and tells code talker to “catch” the bell, causing it to fall down the stairs, ringing countless times until it reaches the bottom.

Opening the door however, Code Talker exclaims that there is no soldier, and Skull Face pretends to wonder where he ran off to.

My problem is that this conversation is not mentioned in Code Talkers wikia page. Although I do understand somewhat as to why, as it is somewhat irrelevant in the grand scheme.

Although. Food for thought. Huey in his time with XOF may have heard of this radiation cure, or had communications with XOF remnants, which resulted in him installing the Beta ray emitter in the scanner, causing the whole quarantine platform tragedy. Which makes it possible he was well intentioned? Still seems that he was trying to make a new parasite strain and get back with Cipher/XOF, without considering consequences. Or Miller was behind it all in order to cement Huey’s sentence, or make a new parasite strain to sell himself or for Diamond dogs? He is all about secret business, like his burgers.

Although that whole incident is still something I’m unsure the cause of.

Anyways. Been loving MGSV and I’m realizing now that this is more of a rant than anything but man. It’s so interesting.

Do you need a certain amount of heroism to get the side op capture the legendary ibis bc it was in my side ops but after i completed shining lights even in death it was gone

I am an huge fan of metal gear and i alwayes love every game of the saga but this last metal gear was so boring bc the open world have so much empity points and the missions are always in the same area, there is no characters that remains in ur heart, the story procedes only in the cutscenes
