Saw this posted on Instagram made in honor of the 10 year anniversary. Not bad, kid.
Remember that in the end, they both had the belief that the strong should dominate the weak, if not outright slay them, despite Raiden's denial throughout the game. If you recall, Armstrong's death sees his body in Raiden's shadow, and given that It Has To Be This Way implies Raiden and Armstrong are, in the end, one and the same when it comes to their morals, this could indeed be Raiden's fate.
I mean, could it be?
Before I start this rant, I was a huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid series back years ago, Snake was the icon of the series and it was a fun stealth themed game while the MCs were Big Boss, Snake than Raiden in Chronological order, the community by now Rising got popular all of a sudden again out of nowhere (I don't like people skipping straight to Rising) but there is one character I have mixed feelings about, you guessed it, Senator Armstrong.
Senator Armstrong was the final boss of you guessed it, Metal Gear Rising. By now he has been memed so much where I was beginning to get pissed. I don't get why so many people love Armstrong so much, I keep getting Nanomachine son and Standing here I realize memes everywhere I go, YouTube, Deviantart, FANDOM, Facebook, any website I can think of.
Senator Armstrong is so extremely overrated out of all bosses in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, lots of the villains had interesting cutscenes, boss fights and some even reappear in other games too while having importance to the plot. But Mr. Nanomachines man? He is literally why people skip straight to Rising, he only had 15 minutes of screentime, no backstory and almost no affect in the plot of the franchise, the series could be perfectly fine without Armstrong and Rising (Which Rising is the last game of the franchise in Chronologcial order) The memes around them even spoiled the ending of Rising which is one of the biggest spoilers in the game if your a Metal Gear fan that hasn't even finished the series so those spoilers can make that you don't even want to play Rising at all, like why ignore everyone else but Armstrong, the Metal Gear Solid fanbase is literally just Armstrong, Armstrong, Armstrong, nothing else. Even though he does make a challenging final boss fight, overall he is just almost bland as a random soldier.
So there you have it, my personal input on why Senator Armstrong is the most overrated character in the entire franchise, overshadowing the other villains like Gray Fox and Volgin, please note I do not hate Armstrong, He just became the Metal Gear equivalent of Sans. Thank you for reading this.
Red Sun - I think it's a lot more upbeat because Sundowner is a lot more open and honest, as well as at peace with himself, than other bosses are. That's why it's a lot more "happy" than other soundtracks. Sundowner contradicts past game villains, and Metal Gear Villains, by being bluntly open in comparison to extremist liars.
The Only Thing I Know For Real - It has way less synths than other boss themes because Sam is not very cybernetically enhanced compared to other bosses - only his right arm is cybernetic, other than that, he's purely human, just in a powerful exosuit that makes him comparable to cyborgs. In extreme contrast, we have...
It Has To Be This Way - It's almost entirely made up of synths because Armstrong has so much nanomachines that he's even stronger than a cyborg - that, and nanos are commonly used in cyborgs, as indicated by Sam's dialogue in Mile High before Monsoon's fight. Because of this, Armstrong may as well be a cyborg because of his nanomachinery and sheer strength.
Doesn't Senator Armstrong look like he has Busoshoku Haki (From One Piece)?
It looks he does.
