I know the Metal Gear series is over, and Kojima, the creator is gone, and that for a lot of people it is just inconceivable and impossible to get another Metal Gear game either because it would be sacrilege to get a new one not made by the man, or because most think Konami too incompetent to make one or just simply because the series finally deserve to rest in peace.
While I totally understand all of the aboves, I must stress that I think it is absolutely possible to get a great new one without Kojima. I'm sorry to say it, but Kojima is a terrible writer. Don't get me wrong, I love the series he created and what he did with it but sometimes it feels like it was a mission for him to create inconsistencies and plot holes with every new game coming out.
Given into the right hands, I'm sure someone competent could create a great new entry in the saga without creating inconsistencies and respecting was has already been established. (AND, I just think it would be criminal not to make a new stealth game with the FOX engine. The gameplay was soo good in MGSV.)
What makes me think that ? Well, that scene, from "Portable Ops": https://youtu.be/OpL5ggfYAok
Spoilers for those who haven't played.
That scene, right there, it gave me the "classic" Metal Gear felling, it was really well done, emotional, beautiful. Something Metal Gear Solid V lacked unfortunately. And it wasn't made by Kojima.
Enough rambling, let's go to the games I'd like to see:
-A remake of Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. This one NEEDS to happen. They are some of the most crucial entries in the saga. That's the thing. The Outer Heaven Revolt, the fall of both Venom Snake and Big Boss at the hand of Solid Snake. The final showdown. We need to see this happen. Would be so epic to have David Hayter voice a young Solid Snake and Kiefer Sutherland voice Big Boss. Of course some changes would need to be made to make the story consistent with all the retcons and make the games longer and more emotional.
-A remake of Peace Walker. I never understood why he chose to tell such a crucial piece of the story on a portable console. That would be so nice to have a full remake with the Fox engine, same gameplay as MGSV, similar Motherbase development features, instead this time you play as the real man, the real Big Boss.
- A game featuring Gray Fox as the main character. This character is an Iconic one in the series. He is Big Boss' best man. He is someone Solid Snake looked up to when he was still learning the ropes. He's a legend. We could see his relation with Big Boss, maybe see him kill Naomi's parents and dealing with that guilt. That could make a great stealth experience right there. Or play him as the Ninja Cyborg he became after the events of Metal Gear 2 in a game similar to Rising.
-A game featuring The Boss as the main character during World War II. Playing the charismatic legend herself, see how and why she is considered a legend, the mother of the special forces. See her relation with the CIA and the Philosophers, see her training a young John, their relationship.
This is it. Given to the right team, I think the Metal Gear series could still have some beautiful days ahead. What do you guys think ?
In Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Raiden makes references to Rose, his son, and Sundowner mentions SOP, and even Sonny finds her new life, straight from that last episode.......but where is Snake? Exactly what happened to him? Otacon was taking care of Sonny, but no mention of him,in the modern era......what happens to him? Will there be a new Rising Revengeance saga?

If Volgin wouldn't have fired that Nuke, America wouldn't have had to prove its innocence. They wouldn't have sent Naked Snake to kill The Boss, so Naked Snake would never have become Big Boss. By not becoming Big Boss, there wouldn't be a cult worshiping him. That means they wouldn't clone him, so no Solid, Liquid and Solidus Snake. Same thing for Venom, he wouldn't become Big Boss' phantom and would remain his true self. America isn't controlled by the Patriots. Maybe controlled by the Philosophers though. Big Boss never meets Kaz and never creates MSF. No Outer Heaven and no Zanzibar either. All of that happened because Volgin fired that Nuke. Crazy, when you think about it.
