MGSHSAU on AO3. The author is listed as orphan_account. One of the best pieces of Metal Gear fanfiction, if not one of the best pieces of fanfiction, if not one of the best pieces of fiction/writing ever written
I'm new to the series with my introduction to the series thanks to MGSV TPP (Fantastic Game btw).
One game that always interested me was mgs4. I heard a lot of opinions regarding this title, good and bad.
Knowing this title is the last canonical game with solid snake and only playable in ps3, it makes it much more interesting to play.
Should I or shouldn't play this game?
That's the final battle when beating the last boss liquid says somewhere out there I know hes laughing and then smirks Who was he referring to Big boss Zero Or some other surviving member of previous games

My first memory of Metal Gear Solid was when I played it at a friend's house. I was probably 8 or 9 years old!
I recently replayed MGS1 on GOG and it was still fantastic, although significantly shorter when playing as an adult who knows it well.
At the time, I remember being blown away by the graphics which were significantly better than anything else I had seen. This, coupled with the games cinematic cutscenes and incredible characters was enough to set me up loving Metal Gear for life - I have played the entire series of games relating to Solid Snake and the games relating to Big Boss (except Peace Walker).
I will never forget when I first stumbled across the Cyborg Ninja in that corridor!
What are you defining memories of the Metal Gear series? How did you first discover the games and what has stuck in your memory?
Now I realize that since I'm asking the Fandom the answer will probably be 'yes', but hear me out. I've honestly never really played a game like Metal Gear Solid besides maybe Dishonored and Assassin's Creed. Other than that, not really. For some stealth based games I've noticed that I have the tendency to go to the previous checkpoint if I was detected or set off an alarm. What draws me to a game is the concept but I stay for the story a few examples for me would be Halo, Resident Evil, Red Dead Redemption, Infamous, Mass Effect, etc. The concept of MGS intrigues me as I've always been interested in the Cold War era (which I realize the games go into present day and I'm fine with that), but what concerns me is that the names of the characters seems confusing (Revolver Ocelot/Liquid Ocelot/Major Ocelot and Solid Snake/Venom Snake/Liquid Snake/Naked Snake, etc.) and I'm worried I'd get lost as I go through the games. Am I concerned over nothing and is the story good enough to hold my attention?
Is Liquid Ocelot and Revolver Ocelot the same person?

In Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Raiden makes references to Rose, his son, and Sundowner mentions SOP, and even Sonny finds her new life, straight from that last episode.......but where is Snake? Exactly what happened to him? Otacon was taking care of Sonny, but no mention of him,in the modern era......what happens to him? Will there be a new Rising Revengeance saga?
