So, MGS:SE3D, the 3DS version of MGS3.
Say what you want about it, but I actually do like it. It's a bit more responsive than the PS2 edition, and not to mention the custom photo cameo has actually helped me a huge amount. It got me to the same point in my PS2 MGS3 save in half the time.
Also, I spent a huge amount of time pulling off the policy of "Kill everyone you meet - at long range." and I used a custom cameo for it, switching between an axolotl pattern I got off my friend's shirt and a Half-Life logo I painted. Somehow, these interchangably granted me full invisibility.
MGS:SE3D. It's rated as piss-poor, but I like it.

MGSHSAU on AO3. The author is listed as orphan_account. One of the best pieces of Metal Gear fanfiction, if not one of the best pieces of fanfiction, if not one of the best pieces of fiction/writing ever written

A Metal Gear Solid stage play. Sounds nuts, right? I know what you may be thinking- "It'll fail! People will hate it!" Well, they said that about MGRR, but now, years later, we are beginning to appreciate it! So, give me a chance.
The plot would basically be a direct musical adaptation of MGS3 (with the ecxeption of Snake meeting the Sorrow after EVA is exposed as the spy), but the play would feature a narrator at the beginning and end. At the end, the narrator says "I'd love to tell you more, but I have to go- it's my first assignment." This hints that the narrator (voiced by David Hayter) is Solid Snake just before the events of Metal Gear.

My first memory of Metal Gear Solid was when I played it at a friend's house. I was probably 8 or 9 years old!
I recently replayed MGS1 on GOG and it was still fantastic, although significantly shorter when playing as an adult who knows it well.
At the time, I remember being blown away by the graphics which were significantly better than anything else I had seen. This, coupled with the games cinematic cutscenes and incredible characters was enough to set me up loving Metal Gear for life - I have played the entire series of games relating to Solid Snake and the games relating to Big Boss (except Peace Walker).
I will never forget when I first stumbled across the Cyborg Ninja in that corridor!
What are you defining memories of the Metal Gear series? How did you first discover the games and what has stuck in your memory?
Now I realize that since I'm asking the Fandom the answer will probably be 'yes', but hear me out. I've honestly never really played a game like Metal Gear Solid besides maybe Dishonored and Assassin's Creed. Other than that, not really. For some stealth based games I've noticed that I have the tendency to go to the previous checkpoint if I was detected or set off an alarm. What draws me to a game is the concept but I stay for the story a few examples for me would be Halo, Resident Evil, Red Dead Redemption, Infamous, Mass Effect, etc. The concept of MGS intrigues me as I've always been interested in the Cold War era (which I realize the games go into present day and I'm fine with that), but what concerns me is that the names of the characters seems confusing (Revolver Ocelot/Liquid Ocelot/Major Ocelot and Solid Snake/Venom Snake/Liquid Snake/Naked Snake, etc.) and I'm worried I'd get lost as I go through the games. Am I concerned over nothing and is the story good enough to hold my attention?
When the hell is Konami going to get itself together and port some Metal Gear games to the Switch? I would personally like to see Snake Eater or Peace Walker. What do you guys wanna see?
