Most of the series has some sort of theme that’s summarized by a single word (MGS1: GENE. MGS2: MEME. MGS3: SCENE. MGS4: SENSE. MGSPW: PEACE. MGSV: RACE, REVENGE.) Now I’m curious about the other canonical games that don’t have one yet.

With the most recent lore (including retcons) in mind, MG1 is about the Outer Heaven Uprising, where Venom Snake, masquerading as Big Boss, launches an insurrection to free the world from Patriots control with the use of Metal Gear. The big plot-twist of the game is finding out Big Boss is “somehow” leading both FOXHOUND and Outer Heaven at the same time.
