Rod in the sheathe that probably shoots itself out hard enough to launch the sword out of the sheathe, possibly like the .50 caliber baseball bat by Stuff Made Here or the .50 caliber hammer by I Did A Thing. You can see this little "rod" by pausing right when Sam presses the trigger and the sword gets launched out.
