If you can. Yea
Absolutely.
I’d say yeah but at the same time if you want you can just catch up on important plot points through a YouTube video showing the cutscenes
I'd recommend going by year in canon. You'll need to procure the following gaming devices:
A Sony PlayStation 2, with both a PlayStation 1 and 2 memory card for Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty.
A Sony PlayStation Portable, preferably with a high capacity memory stick for Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops and Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker (Because PSP version was best in my opinion, because Metal Gear action anywhere you want (Battery (and weather (and memory)) dependent))
A Sony PlayStation 3, for Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots.
Either a Sony PlayStation 4 or a Microsoft Xbox One for Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain (Because only plebs like me use the previous generation console).
An MSX computing device, for Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2
A GameBoy Colour for Metal Gear Solid (The GBC version wasn't all that bad)
Or, be a cheapskate and emulate most of this stuff on a PC.
Big Boss timeline, 1960s to 1980s

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear 2
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Rising: Revengance
And that's about it. Have fun getting all this done. If you legitimately complete them all in less than a month, I'll (probably not) buy you a box of cigarettes and a beer.
What do you think?
