I thought it was pretty fun. More of a ninja action game set in the MGS universe. A good progression system with upgrades. It does get a bit challenging towards the end, but overall pretty fun.
It was different, but still great in it's own right. Kinda felt like there was something missing gameplay wise, like the approach to level design was a little stripped down and compensated for by inserting more action. Story wise it was obviously never intended to be on par with the main series, just built from the ground up for cool and intense gameplay. You can tell Hideo made this one just to have fun, it's like the ultimate action movie starring you.
I bought a used copy and played it a few times on normal difficulty. I found the game very difficult and frustrating. I later returned it to get my money back. MGR: Revengence, by the way not a real word, is nothing like the previous metal gear games. There is very little if no “stealth” tactical espionage action. It’s basically an action/slasher game with short cutscenes and long codec conversations. I personally did not enjoy this game because of these reasons, and don’t get me started on the soundtrack. There was some cool aspects like using the right analog stick to chop things in multiple pieces. Other than that.... I’d give the game a meh out of 10 rating.
