Solid Snake survived the tanker incident, yes there are two more clones but they died.

There are multiple different snakes throughout the series: Naked Snake, Big Boss, Venom Snake, Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and Liquid Ocelot. Naked Snake and Big Boss are the same person. Solid and Liquid are the imperfect clones of Big Boss. Solidus was the only perfect clone of Big Boss. Venom snake is not at all related to any of the snakes, and he was a sort of Stunt Double or Doppleganger for Big Boss. Liquid Ocelot is Ocelot being mind controlled by Liquid except not really. He fakes it but he also doesn't. It's complicated. Big Boss dies in MGS4, Liquid dies in MGS1 but is resurrected through Ocelot. Venom Snake dies in Metal Gear 1(NOT metal gear solid 1). Solidus dies in MGS2. In MGS3 and PW, Naked Snake/Big Boss is the Protag. In MGSV, Venom Snake is the Protag. In Metal Gear 1 Solid Snake is the Protag and Venom Snake is the antagonist. In Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake is the Protag and Big Boss is the antagonist. In MGS1 Solid Snake is the Protag and Liquid Snake is the antagonist. In MGS2 Raiden and Solid Snake are the Protagonists and Solidus is the Antagonist. In MGS4 Solid Snake, who is now Old Snake, is the Protag and Liquid Ocelot is the antagonist and at the end Big Boss reveals he is alive but then dies. Solid Snakes death is a bit of a riddle at the end because we don't know if he kills himself, dies of Foxdie, or doesn't do anything.
